Teserra Outdoors had the immense pleasure of being a part of this year’s CareerBuilder Challenge. Many spectators visited our Teserra Outdoors Experience at PGA WEST – TPC Stadium Course in La Quinta, California.
Not only was this our first PGA TOUR tournament experience, but it was also the first year with a new sponsor hosting the event and it couldn’t have been more exciting!
The Teserra family and friends had an unobstructed view of the 10th tee, where golf celebrities like Phil Mickelson, Bill Haas, Jason Dufner, Zach Johnson and Patrick Reed teed off. Our neighbor, Rodney Strong winery, joined in the fun with a full bar offering flights of their delicious Sonoma County wines.
Now let’s talk about golf and the golf lifestyle!
We’re so happy we got to enjoy the perfect Coachella Valley “winter” weather, barbecue next to the spa and rooting for our favorite PGA TOUR players alongside CareerBuilder Challenge spectators!
If you attended the CareerBuilder Challenge, we hope you were able to sit and relax in our comfortable backyard patio, grab some food from the grill, pizza from our outdoor brick oven, practice your putting on the Celebrity Greens putting green and relish in the “Teserra Outdoors Experience.”
We loved seeing you and your kids enjoy our putting green! Our Celebrity Greens putting green was just a sample of what we provide to desert dweller’s backyards every day!
News Channel 3 visited our Teserra Outdoor Experience at the tournament and we were able to share what we feel contributes to the desert golf lifestyle. “Basically, what we tried to achieve is building an outdoor environment for your backyard. So, everything we’ve done here, you can do in your own backyard,” Darin Simmons, Teserra employee.
After a fantastic week of showing tournament spectators how to live the Southern California desert lifestyle we witnessed one of the most exciting showdowns in golf history: a play-off between Jason Dufner and David Lingmerth. Lingmerth found the water at the 18th, helping Dufner take the championship. Phil Mickelson shot a 68 to tie for third in his first start since The Presidents Cup in October. But it was Dufner who took home the title of 2016 CareerBuilder Challenge winner.
In an interview, Dufner said: “I worked pretty hard. We worked really hard on the routine of it. I worked really hard on being consistent with the pace of my stroke. And I worked with not over thinking things. If you noticed at all or if you see anything, my routine’s pretty quick. I take a look at it, hey, this is what I kind of think it’s doing, then I just run with it, I go. I try to let what I see and how my body reacts to that take over and do it.”
And it worked. His miraculous shot from the rocks at Alcatraz , No 17, to save par could very well be dubbed the par of the year.
The playoff was a spectacular ending to the CareerBuilder Challenge!
